New Fund Seeks Opportunities in Under-Researched Equity Sectors
NEW YORK – Goldman Sachs Asset Management (“GSAM”) today announced the launch of the Goldman Sachs Small/Mid Cap Value Fund (Class A shares: GMVAX; Class I: GSMVX), which seeks long-term capital appreciation in a portfolio of small-and mid-cap securities that portfolio management believes are undervalued and have potential attractive risk-reward profiles. The team attempts to hold on to their ideas while capturing the compounding growth potential of emerging companies.
“We set out to identify quality companies that are attractively valued where the market may be underappreciating the existing business or its prospects for future success,” said Sean Gallagher, Co-CIO of the US Value Team. “From a risk-reward standpoint, the Goldman Sachs Small/Mid Cap Value Fund invests in a diversified portfolio of companies with the goal of generating compelling returns with lower volatility.”
The Fund aims to actively invest in 125-200 small and mid-cap stocks across a variety of industries with typical market capitalizations ranging from $2 billion to $6 billion. It is benchmarked to the Russell 2500 Value Index.
“This Fund leverages the deep investment knowledge of the Small/Mid Cap Value Team, which averages over 20 years of industry experience,” said Sean Gallagher.1 “Our team’s differentiated structure where portfolio managers act as sector specialists allows our team to focus on their area of expertise in an effort to uncover attractive investment opportunities.”
The Fund is offered in Class A and C shares with $1,000 minimum initial investments. The Fund also offers Institutional, Class R and Class IR Shares.
