Goldman Sachs Asset Management Announces Jessica Palmer Named Chair-Elect, Goldman Sachs Trust

New York, NY, May 12, 2017 — Goldman Sachs Asset Management (“GSAM”), investment adviser for the Goldman Sachs Trust and Goldman Sachs Variable Insurance Trust (together, the “Trusts”), announced the naming of Jessica Palmer as Chair‐Elect of the Board of Trustees. Ms. Palmer’s responsibilities as Chair will be effective January 1, 2018.

Ms. Palmer has served the Trusts as a Trustee since 2007. Prior to joining the Board, Ms. Palmer worked at Citigroup Corporate and Investment Banking (previously, Salomon Smith Barney/Salomon Brothers) for over 20 years, where she was a Managing Director. While at Citigroup Corporate and Investment Banking, Ms. Palmer was Head of Global Risk Management, Chair of the Global Commitment Committee, Co‐Chair of International Investment Banking (New York) and Head of Fixed Income Capital Markets. Ms. Palmer was also a member of the Management Committee and Risk Management Operating Committee of Citigroup, Inc. Ms. Palmer also serves as a Director of The Emerson Center for the Arts and Culture, a not‐for‐profit organization. Palmer was also a member of the Board of Trustees of a private elementary and secondary school.

Ms. Palmer will succeed Ashok Bakhru as Chairman upon his retirement from the Board. Mr. Bakhru has served as a Trustee for the Goldman Sachs Trust since 1991 and Chairman of its Board since 1996. Mr. Bakhru also serves as director and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Goldman Sachs BDC, Inc. and Goldman Sachs Private Middle Market Credit LLC. Mr. Bakhru also serves on the Governing Council of the Independent Directors Council, the Board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute, and the Board of Directors of the Mutual Fund Directors Forum. He also serves on the Advisory Board of BoardIQ, an investment publication. Previously, Mr. Bakhru served as President of ABN Associates, a management and financial consulting firm, and was the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Coty Inc., a multinational cosmetics, fragrance and personal care company. In addition, Mr. Bakhru formerly held several senior management positions at Scott Paper Company, a major manufacturer of paper products, including Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
